What started as the small village of Delta in the 1840s, with vineyards inspiring poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow’s “Catawba Wine” and the grand Crusade Castle as a missionary hub, became Mount Lookout after its 1870 annexation and the 1873 opening of the Kilgour brothers’ “dummy line” railroad.
